Your videos and photos stay on your phone. PlateOff finds and blurs plates and faces on the device itself, and works offline. Your photos and videos are never uploaded unless you turn on Help improve PlateOff or tap Report a bad blur.

Help improve PlateOff and Report a bad blur (both your choice). "Help improve PlateOff" is off unless you switch it on in Settings. When it's on, each photo or video you blur is sent to Boring Mods in the background, on Wi-Fi only: the original and the blurred copy. "Report a bad blur" sends the one photo or video you report, the same way, with what you picked as wrong and any note you typed. Before anything leaves your phone, location and camera details are removed from the original. Each one also carries what the app already knew about it: whether it's a photo or video, its size and length, how many plates and faces were found and how sure the app was, which blurs you added or switched off, and the app and iOS versions. No name, account, device ID or location is sent, and we don't keep your internet address (a scrambled form is used for an hour or two only to stop one person flooding us). They are stored privately, looked at only to fix the blur, and deleted once checked (at the latest after 30 days). They are never published, sold, shared or used for advertising. Switch Help improve off at any time; anything not yet sent stays on your phone and is cleared within 7 days.

No account, no tracking, no ads. PlateOff has no sign-up, no advertising and no third-party tracking. We don't collect personal data about you.

Anonymous usage counts. So the app keeps getting better, it sends Boring Mods anonymous counts: which screens are used, how many plates were found, how many blurs were added or switched off by hand, whether a purchase screen was shown, and error messages. Never your photos or videos, never a plate, a place, a name or anything that identifies you or your phone, and nothing is linked to you. You can switch this off in Settings: "Anonymous usage".

Photos access. PlateOff only opens the video or photo you pick, and only adds to your library when you tap Save. Saved photos have their location and camera details removed.

Blur updates. When it opens, the app downloads its latest blur settings (and, now and then, an improved plate finder) from boringmods.com. That request carries nothing about you or your files; like any web request it reaches our web host with your internet address, which we don't use or keep beyond the host's normal short server logs.

Purchases. Pro is bought through Apple with your Apple ID. Apple handles payment; we never see your card or Apple ID details.

Children. PlateOff isn't aimed at children. Apart from what you choose to send with Help improve PlateOff or Report a bad blur, it collects nothing from anyone.
