BORING LIGHTS

Terms of use

Boring Lights is made by Boring Mods. Last updated 28 October 2026.

Light shows: never on a public road

Use light shows only where it is allowed: parked, on private land, a closed track or a film set. Running a light show on a public road is against the law in most countries, including the UK, the US and the EU. You are responsible for checking and following the laws where you are and the rules of any track or site where you use the app.

Hello and headlight flashes

Hello and the quick headlight flashes are a short flash of your headlights, like flashing them with the stalk, so they can be used while driving. Use them lawfully and safely, as you would the stalk: in the UK only to let other road users know you're there, and never to dazzle anyone.

Don't use the app to dazzle, confuse or alarm other people, or to make your car look like an emergency vehicle.

How it works

Boring Lights sends the same diagnostic light tests a garage diagnostic tool uses, through an OBD adapter plugged into your car. Each command times out by itself, and every light is handed back to the car when a show stops. Nothing is coded or permanently changed on the car.

Shows stop by themselves when the ignition goes off, the battery drops below 12 V, the adapter is unplugged, the app is closed (swiped away), or after 10 minutes. A show keeps going while you use the camera or another app. If the phone senses the car moving, a light show only carries on after a one-tap confirmation (Hello and the headlight flashes don't need one).

Flashing lights warning

Flashing lights can trigger seizures in people with photosensitive epilepsy. If you or anyone nearby has epilepsy or has had a seizure, don't use the strobe modes around them. Stop at once if anyone feels dizzy or unwell.

Your responsibility

You use Boring Lights at your own risk. To the fullest extent allowed by the law where you live, Boring Mods is not liable for any damage to your car, its lights, bulbs, modules or battery, for warning messages, fault codes, fines, accidents, or any other loss arising from using the app. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be excluded.

Lights and their control vary between cars, model years and modifications. Some lights may not respond on your car. The built-in light test shows which ones do.

Purchases

The one-off unlock is sold through the App Store or Google Play and covered by their purchase and refund terms. The Apple standard licence agreement (EULA) also applies to the iPhone app.
